Good Morning đ
I am sure that you have said âI love youâ to Your parents. Your partner. Your children. A close friend. Perhaps even your dog. But have you ever looked in the mirror and quietly said those same three words to yourself? Last week I visited Freddie, my childhood friend who owns a gym. While waiting for him, I noticed a man in his forties standing in front of a mirror. He wasnât admiring himself. He wasnât checking his muscles. He was smiling. Curiosity got the better of me. I introduced myself and asked what he was doing. âMy nameâs Jack,â he said. âEvery morning I thank my body.â Seeing the puzzled look on my face, he continued. âThis week Iâm looking after my eyes. Iâm getting more sleep, drinking more water, and using a little cream for the dark circles. Next week itâll be something else.â Then he said something Iâve been thinking about ever since. âWe tell the people we love that we love them. We care for them. We protect them. But this body has carried me through every joy, every disappointment, every adventure and every ordinary Tuesday of my life. Why shouldnât it hear those words too?â That stopped me. Our body asks for remarkably little. A little nourishing food. Some movement. Some rest and sleep. And yet it quietly keeps our heart beating around 100,000 times a day without ever asking for applause. The ancient Greeks believed that caring for the body wasnât vanity, it was gratitude. They understood that every conversation, every hug, every celebration and every memory we ever experience is possible because of the remarkable home we live in every single day. Perhaps weâve become so accustomed to our bodies that weâve stopped noticing the miracle of them. I left the gym thinking differently. Not about looking younger. Not about looking fitter. But about becoming a little more appreciative. Maybe this week isnât about transforming your whole life. Maybe itâs simply about choosing one part of your body that has faithfully served you for years and giving it a little extra care. Which part of your body deserves a quiet thank you today? Do let us know what you decided. Until tomorrow, Bob
