Five Minutes with Bob
All mornings

Good Morning☕

Yesterday I didn’t get the promotion I thought I deserved. Surprisingly, disappointment wasn’t the feeling that stayed with me. 🤔Curiosity was. On my drive home, I kept asking myself a question that had very little to do with work. 💭”Five years from now, who am I actually trying to become?” I’d heard someone suggest an unusual exercise: imagine sitting across from your future self, not the version everyone else admires, but the one which genuinely feels content. So this morning I made myself an unusually rare second cup of coffee☕, found a quiet corner, and spent twenty minutes with that person. At first, I pictured someone with a better title. 💼 A bigger home. 🏡 A healthier bank account. 💰 But something felt off. So I tried again. This time, I saw someone who laughed more easily. 😊 Someone healthier. ❤️ Someone who had protected the relationships that mattered most. 🤝 Someone who still looked forward to ordinary mornings. 🌅 Oddly enough… ✨That version of me felt far more successful. It made me realize something. Most of us are incredibly busy planning our next meeting, our next purchase or our next vacation.📅🛍️✈️ Very few of us spend time planning the kind of life we’re actually trying to build. 🌱If we never pause to picture the destination, we quietly spend years becoming whatever our routines happen to create. Time is remarkably good at moving us forward. ⏳ If you don’t consciously decide what success looks like, the world will decide it for you. 💙Perhaps happiness isn’t something we eventually stumble upon. ✨Perhaps it’s the result of hundreds of small decisions made in service of a life we’ve taken the time to imagine. 💬So here’s the question I’ve been sitting with today. ❓If you met yourself five years from now, would that person thank you for the choices you’re making this week? I’d genuinely love to hear what came to your mind. 💌 Until tomorrow,🌼 Bob
