Good Morning

Happy Friday! Weekends have always felt special to me. They're a chance to slow down, recharge, and spend time doing the things we rarely make time for during the week. Last Friday, I found myself sitting next to an elderly gentleman who seemed to carry the quiet confidence that only life experience brings. We started chatting, and somewhere in the conversation I casually mentioned, "I'm really looking forward to the weekend." He smiled and said, "You know what the best kind of life is?" Naturally, I wanted to hear more. He continued, "The happiest people I know look forward to Friday on Friday... and Monday on Sunday." That sentence stayed with me long after we parted. At first, it sounded simple. But the more I thought about it, the deeper it became. Looking forward to Friday means you know how to enjoy rest. Looking forward to Monday means you've built a life that excites you enough to begin again. When both are true, you've probably found something many people spend a lifetime searching for…balance. A life where peace and purpose coexist. That thought made me ask myself an uncomfortable question: What's stopping me from looking forward to Monday? After some reflection, I decided to make two small changes. The first was to go deeper rather than wider in my work to become better at what I already love instead of chasing everything at once. The second was much simpler: every weekend, I'll spend thirty uninterrupted minutes walking in nature. No phone. No agenda. Just time to think. Kinda Me time. They're small changes, but I'm curious to see where they lead. Then another thought struck me. If we spend every Sunday wishing it weren't ending, and every Monday wishing it were Friday, we're quietly wishing away almost five days of every week. That's a heart breaking bargain. Life is too short to spend most of it waiting for it to begin again. Perhaps that's what the gentleman was really trying to tell me. The goal isn't to escape weekdays. The goal is to build a life we don't feel the need to escape from. Now let me ask you... Do you relate to what that gentleman said? I also realized there are a couple of people at work who make Mondays more enjoyable simply because I get to work with them. We all have someone who brings positive energy into our week. Who is that person for you? Maybe today is a good day to let them know. That brings me to today's question… What's one small change that would make you look forward to Monday? Do share… Have a wonderful weekend. Until tomorrow, Bob
