Who Deserves The Last Seat?

It started, as many interesting conversations do, with someone saying: “I have a question for you.” It was an ordinary Wednesday evening. A few neighbours were sitting around, talking, laughing, and doing what people have done for centuries when they have nowhere particularly urgent to be. Then our resident, Jeff, Mr. Know-It-All, had a quiz. There were seven people on a small plane: A senior politician. A wealthy entrepreneur. A doctor. A pregnant woman. A priest. A sixteen-year-old girl. And a philanthropist. The plane crash-landed on a deserted island in the Pacific. Everyone survived. For the moment. Then, almost unbelievably, a small aircraft appeared overhead. The pilot managed to land. There was only one seat available. And a violent storm was approaching. Rescue might not arrive in time. The pilot could take one person. Only one. Jeff looked around the table. Then he asked: “If the decision were entirely yours… who would you save?” And suddenly, our drinks became irrelevant. Nobody answered immediately. It made us think. So, I ask you … What choice would you make and more importantly, Why? Tomorrow, I'll tell you what our group verdicts were. And perhaps we'll discover something rather surprising about the way we judge a human life. Until then, Bob

I believe so as well.

Well, if I had a choice of whom to save, I’d save the pregnant woman. And let the PILOT decide for himself whom to save)))) But seriously, I’d choose the pregnant woman anyway. First, her unborn child is the only one in this group who has no choice about staying on the island voluntarily. Second, this way you can cheat the rules of the scenario and save two people. And third, who knows, maybe one day the child will become the pilot of a bigger plane)))

Thank you for your perspective.

Hey, I’m a bit confused, because I failed to find the question you are reaponding to. But I definitely support the idea to save the pregnant woman exactly for the reasons you underscored. That way you save 2 lives instead of one.
